Both LCD and LED screens use the same technology, which is reflected in their construction. Separate television models contain two different layers of polarised glass, which allows light to flow through while still blocking liquid crystals.

LCD - Liquid Crystal Display

LED - Light Emitting Diode

  • Fluoroscent light is used in LCD and light emiiting diodes in LED.
  • Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are typically positioned around the borders or behind screens, whereas fluorescent lights are typically positioned in front of screens.
  • Compared to LEDs, LCDs are often bulkier and less energy efficient.

What is LED ?

An LCD, is a passive screen that uses no lighting to show media or text. Fluorescent tubes are used in place of the LCD's LEDs to provide light and brighten the image. Always position the lights behind the screen panel. The information displayed on the screen by LCD is produced as a dot matrix or segments. Between the transparent electrodes, a liquid crystal filament is filled, and the filaments are energised by passing current through it. Finally, this aids in the production of visible lights.

  • LCD is inexpensive.
  • Older CRT monitors are heavier than LCD displays.
  • Excellent brightness is provided via LCD.

What is LED ?

LED is a subset of LCD. LEDs, on the other hand, use light-emitting diodes, whilst LCDs use fluorescent lighting. The semiconductor light sources that these diodes are often known as are those that emit light when a current flows through them. Compared to standard LCDs, LEDs diode system creates better, sharper images. LEDs allow for the placement of light-emitting diodes behind the screen panel or along the edges.

  • LED typically has a longer lifespan, it is durable.
  • Heat is not produced by LED.
  • LEDs are very energy-efficient.
