Causes of poor smell from Belly Button :
- Poor hygiene is the most frequent cause of a belly button odour. To stay clean and healthy, it is important to wash every part of the body frequently.
- Trillions of naturally developing, typically harmless microorganisms that live on the skin.
- Skin creases around the belly button provide a habitat for bacteria to flourish. The majority of these bacteria are low-level and do not produce odours. However, if germs build up too much, they could produce a bad or irritating odour.
A person may be more susceptible to belly button odour under the following conditions:
- Having diabetes
- they just had their belly button pierced.
- They are obese.
Treatment for poor smell :
If you get an infection, keep your belly button dry and clean. Avert wearing tight clothing as well. Wearing clothing that sticks to your skin might cause sweat and filth to accumulate. Depending on the type of bacterium that caused the illness, your doctor may advise using an antifungal or antibiotic cream.
The following procedures should be taken if an infection spreads to skin close to a piercing:
- Take the jewellery off.
- Wash your belly button gently with a cotton ball dipped in a solution of warm water and antibacterial soap. Always make an effort to maintain the area dry and clean.
- Wearing clothing that is too tight can irritate the affected area, so avoid doing so.
- You might need to make a doctors appointment if these measures do not work
