International body the United Nations (UN) was founded on October 24, 1945. The second multipurpose international organisation with a global membership and scope was the United Nations (UN), which was founded in the 20th century.
The UN has a main headquarters in New York City and regional offices in Geneva, Vienna, and Nairobi. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, and Spanish are its official languages.

Four of the major World War II Allies gathered in Washington, DC in 1944 to debate the creation of the United Nations and to negotiate the terms of the postwar world. Delegations from the United States, the United Kingdom, the Soviet Union, and the Republic of China were present.
When the United Nations was first established, the United States was crucial. The UN Charter reflects the influence of US President Franklin D. Roosevelt and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, who both had a similar vision for the post-World War II era. It places a strong focus on peace, security, international law, economic development, and human rights. The Atlantic Charter, which the two leaders drafted in 1941, stated that there would be no territorial agglomeration as a result of the war, constructive postwar ties, and the resolution of international conflicts through peaceful discussion as opposed to the use or threat of force. The UN Charter was ultimately based on the Atlantic Charter.
