Yesterday, I was reading Bhagavad Gita. There I came across the main character of that spritual book. In the first chapter, I got to know that Krishna is called by many names. Infact, he has hundreds and millions of names. One of them is Govinda. He is called so because he was a cowherd. He love to get in attach with the cows. In the name Govinda, the word "go" has the meaning cows, And the word "vinda" means pleasure giving.
So, the word Govinda means:
One who gives pleasure to the cows.
Krishna gives pleasure to the cows. He is also known by the name "Gopala" because he take care of the cows.
