Reasons of conflict between Ukraine and Russia ?
1. The conflict over Ukraine has grown between Washington and Moscow.
2. Russia wants the West to prevent Ukraine and other former Soviet countries from joining NATO, stop military buildups close to its borders, and withdraw troops from Eastern Europe.
3. Ukraine desire to join NATO has not been favourably received by Russia.
4. If Ukraine is permitted to join NATO, Russia believes the organisation will march closer to its borders.
5. If Ukraine joins NATO, it will be able to rely on the alliances members for defence against external assaults.
6. Therefore, Russia thinks that if Ukraine joins NATO, it might try to retake Crimea. Recently, Putin also voiced his concerns in this regard.
7. As a result, Russia asks that the West refrain from intervening in Ukraine because Putin wants to reassert Moscow dominance over the whole post-Soviet region.
8. In addition, Russia lost control of 14 former republics, including Ukraine, as the Soviet Union collapsed.
9. Given that both nations once shared a single "historic and spiritual area," Putin finds this to be unfortunate.
10. The West and Ukraine must reassure Russia that it wont join and that they would demilitarise and turn Ukraine into a neutral state, according to the Russian president.
What exactly is Putin issue with NATO?
The 30-nation defensive military alliance of the West is intended to fragment Russian society and finally destroy it, according to the leader of that country. On May 9, he charged NATO with beginning an active military buildup on Russian borderlands in a speech commemorating Victory Day.
He urged that NATO go back to 1997 and halt its eastward expansion, withdraw its forces and military facilities from member states that joined the alliance after 1997, and refrain from putting "strike weapons near Russia borders" prior to the start of the conflict. That includes the Baltic States, Eastern Europe, and Central Europe.
