In India there are so many stray dogs in every gali mohalla street..
They stay in a group. Most of the time they fight each other. As they are the stray dogs, so no municipal committee give them rabies injection. Suppose a dog bites you so what should be done ?
What is rabies? It is a dieseas which is transmitted from a dog to human. Your pet can contract rabies if it is bitten by a rabid animal or if it gets the saliva of an infected animal in their eyes, nose, mouth, or an open cut. The rabies virus affects the central nervous system.
Symptoms:
- Aerophobia - person will start fearing from air
- Hydrophobia - person will start fearing from water
- Other symptoms are weakness or discomfort, fever, or headache.
- Prickling, or an itching sensation at the site of the bite
This is fatal. If it spreads, it could lead to death.
What to do ?
- Wash the wound in running water with soap
- Wash with betadine liquid
- Visit doctor immediately
- Take 5 shots of anti rabies vaccine ARV as prescribed by doctor.
What not to do ?
- Do not apply any red chilli powder or any other thing
- Do not cover or stitch on wound
