Scientists have classified vertebrates into five different groups: mammals, birds, fish, reptiles, and amphibians. Birds and mammals are both warm blooded and are vertebrates.
There are more than 5,000 species that are mammals. Examples are ; Jaguar, Rhinoceros, Bear, Elephant, Gazelle, Camel, Hippopotamus, Elk, horse, Kangaroo, Giraffe, Zebra.
Humans come under a large group of animals known as mammals (Class Mammalia). Human beings are classified as mammals due to the following reasons :
1. They have large well - developed brain
2. They give birth to their young ones
3. They can be called as warm blooded animals
4. Humans have hair on their body
5. They can feed milk to their babies
