What is the history behind 15th September ?
Engineers day is celebrated in the memory of great Civil engineer Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya to remember his Birth Anniversary. He was born on 15th September,1861 in Karnataka. He played an important role in the construction of dams, reservoirs and hydropower projects for Modern India.
He was known for his flood disaster management skills and excellent irrigation techniques. While working as a Chief engineer, he constructed the most famous Raja Sagar Dam in Mysore. For this excellent work, he was appointed as Diwan of Mysore in 1912.
Engineers day is celebrated to honor the acknowledge the engineers for their pivotal role in making the India much more better and technologically advanced.
Along with India, Sri Lanka and Tanzania also celebrate the engineers day on 15th September.
