What is the Agniveer Scheme ?
One of the appealing programmes for Indian youngsters to join the armed forces was approved by the union cabinet of India. This programme is known as Agnipath, and the chosen candidate is known as Agniveer. Over 46000 positions are covered by this programme. 10th, 12th, and ITI grades will be required for this position.
Avantages of the Agniveer Scheme :
Salary Plan :
The salary will be approximately Rs 40,000 per month by the time the Agniveer reaches his or her fourth year, and the government will contribute to the corpus fund, which will be the severance of approximately Rs 11.71 lakh when they depart, according to a government announcement made earlier this week. As previously said, the government would contribute an equal amount, and the military will contribute close to 30% of their salary to the corpus. Once freed of duty, these recruits will receive assistance in obtaining loans for additional schooling, as well as incentives in the form of higher educational credits and other bridging courses.
Why Agniveer scheme is being critisied ?
The fact that the Agnipath schemes foundation is a four-year contract is one of the reasons this is taking place; applicants to the Indian army are upset about it. People have expressed their concerns about the future of their services. Many of these workers prioritise employment security, which includes pensions and retirement benefits, over competitive pay. Their expectations are not met because the majority of them will have to quit their jobs in the next four years.
However, others worry that the abilities they acquire as soldiers wont transfer to the various positions in regular society. Furthermore, they fear that when hiring for new positions, hiring managers wont favour them over other candidates because of their Agniveer status.
The time allotted for training is another issue that worries people. According to reports, it takes two to three years to prepare an army recruit, but under the Agnipath plan, recruits will just undergo six months of training.
