Hey guys, I am Anushka Garg, currently a medical student in Government medical College.
So a very common myth among medical students is that "Standard books" are necessary for passing the professional exams during their M.B.B.S.
This is not completely true. You can easily pass your exams even without studying Standard books like Robbins for pathology and Greys for Anatomy and many others.
Although there is no competition for standard books but still there are many students who find the language of these books a bit difficult and are unable to understand them.
So which option is better? Reading a standard book without understanding concepts OR reading a normal book with a bit less information but easy language?
I guess the answer to the above question would definitely be the second one. Bcz see, the other books also have the same topics and units and almost similar content, the only difference is in the language.
I have personally experienced during my first year, most of the students bought Guyton at first and all of them ended up reading Sembulingam for exam which i would say was a 7th grade book as compared to Guyton which is a gold standard book but the ultimate goal is to pass the exam which you can by reading normal books.
For those students, who want to clear their concepts are are good at understanding the language of standard books, you should definitely go for Standard books.
Thank you
