Development is  a continuous process and it starts from the birth and continues till death.

There are basically 5 stages of development:

1. Prenatal Stage

It occurs from the mother of womb till birth i.e we can say from womb to tomb. 
There are three stages under it,
Germinal (0 to 2 weeks)
Embryonic (3 to 6 weeks)
Fatal (6 weeks to birth)

2. Infancy

It is from the birth of child to 2 years. Here, the child makes the use of five senses to touch and feel the objects. Deferred imitation comes under this stage. It is also the period of rapid growth.

3. Later Childhood

This stage continue from 3 years to 6 years. Here, the child starts to go to school and get in interaction with peers. It is the best period to learn a language. He starts making illogical views. 

4. Later Childhood

It is from the age of 7 to 12 years. The children starts developing logical thinking. They begin to get in touch with the concrete objects. They start making friends.

5. Adolescence 

It is teen period i.e from age of 13 to 19. It is the most critical period of development. The child begins to form the relationships and get emotionally engaged in them. It is the period when you have to think each and every aspect.
