The FIR that is physically filed in the police station and the Zero FIR are very similar. The only distinction between a FIR and a Zero FIR is that a FIR must be filed as a complaint by the informant when the incident took place at a location under the purview of the police station, whereas a Zero FIR may be filed at any police station, regardless of where the incident took place. The victim can file a FIR on his or her own behalf, through a family member or other relative, or through any other person who is familiar with the details of the crime.
Difference between FIR and Zero FIR :
1. A FIR is filed at any police station, regardless of where the incident occurred, if it happened within the jurisdiction of that station at the time the incident occurred.
2. The goal of Zero FIR is to offer the victim prompt relief so that, once the FIR has been filed, appropriate action can be taken.
Purpose of filling FIR :
As is common knowledge, filing a Zero FIR avoids all difficulties and inconveniences associated with filing a traditional FIR at the police station.
