Galactorrhea is medical health condition in which, a milky discharge occurs from the breast in non-pregnant ladies and even after menopause. Galactorrhea itself is not a disease but it may be indicator for other disease.
Generally, breast consist mammary glands (responsible for milk production), which get the signal from pituitary gland, in brain, via prolactin hormone which activates mammary gland to produce milk. This process is normally occurs after pregnancy, for baby feed.
Various reasons responsible for galactorrhea includes hypothyrodism, high serum prolactin levels, high sensitivity of mammary glands. Both men and women can have Galactorrhea. It may also happen due to Tumor in pituitary gland. Anybody facing that problem should visit the doctor for the prevention of further process.
