A seizure is a sudden, uncontrolled electrical disturbance in the brain. How to calm a person ? How to make him feel relaxed ?

Seizure is the disturbance in the brain. It changes your behavior, movements and levels of your consciousness.

Seizures are of two types :

1. Localized seizures

2. Partial seizures

These are based on how and where abnormal brain activity begins. More then 2 seizure within 24 hours, may be diagnosed as epilepsy.

How can we manage seizures ?

1. First of all sharp or injury causing tools should be moved away from the person experiencing a seizure to avoid any injury risks.

2. Then manage their airway, breathing and circulation which involves placing the person on their side, which is known as recovery position.

3. Depending upon the severity of seizure, take the patient to hospital and follow the treatment.

4. Contrary to common misconception, don't force any object to the mouth of patient as it may cause teeth and gum injury.

5. Don't try to hold or stop the movement of patient.

6. You should call at no. 911 when you see somebody is suffering from seizure.
