Many people says that a pregnant woman should not eat papaya but why they do not know. They just say is not good for pregnant women...

There is always a confusion what to eat during pregnancy. Doctors recommend balanced diet containing fruits rich in nutrients. But, which fruits to eat, this question usually arises in our mind. What about eating Papaya? Doctors prescribed to eat ripe papaya while unripe papaya isn't good for a pregnant woman.

Ripe Papaya is a rich source of:

  • fiber
  • folate
  • Vitamins A, B, and C
  • potassium
  • choline

Unripe Papaya is a rich source of:

  • latex
  • papain

The latex that comes out of the papaya can cause contractions in the uterus with the secretion of postraglandin, thereby increasing the chances of misscarriage.

Don't eat any papaya skin or seeds. Remove the seeds carefully and cut the fleshy part away from the skin. It's best not to eat the flesh of the fruit directly out of the skin.
