Low quality synthetic sindoor can be very for women. It can cause skin cancer, rashes, dandruff, harmful for eyes and brain.

Sindoor is also called as "Kumkum" and can be used as a Roli. It is used by all the married women along the partition of hair and is considered as the visual marker of her marital status. Sindoor has a great value in Hindu culture. It is also applied on the idols of God during the festivals or occasions. Sindoor is red in color which looks very attractive.

Women are adorned with their first Sindoor by their husbands only on their wedding day. This ceremony is called Sindoor-Dana. After this, she have to apply Sindoor on the daily basis.

You will find Sindoor at every shop when you visit a temple. Have you ever wonder how Sindoor is made ?

Sindoor making process at home :

Ingredients required-

  • half kg crushed turmeric i.e. turmeric powder
  • 20 gm of alum (phitkari)
  • 60 gm of borax
  • lemon juice as per requirement for paste
  • 1 table spoon sesame oil

Procedure-

  • First, take the alum and borax powder and mix them with lemon juice. Solution will be formed
  • Now, you have to pour this solution on the turmeric powder and mix them. You will see the paste will formed.
  • You have to dry this paste in the sunlight for two to three days. You will find turmeric will turn red
  • After it gets dry, take some drops of till oil and rub the powder in between your palms. Make sure that the powder get moistened with the oil
  • Lastly, you can preserve Kumkum in a glass or wooden container for long usage.
  • Take it and use when you require.

This is a pure and fresh Sindoor that will not effect your skin and will not cause any allergy to you.
