First, I thought that climate and weather are one and the same things. But today, my teacher told me that climate and weather are not same. What is the difference between them ?

Weather and Climate are the similar words but they have different meanings. Many people have confusion between them and thus use incorrectly.
Weather - Weather is the mix of events that happen everyday in the atmosphere of earth. You may know there is only one atmosphere on earth, however, weather doesn't remain same all over the world. You may also be the person who went to shimla during summer holidays as there is too cold and the place where you live is the hottest one. That is, weather is different in different parts of the world and it changes over minutes, seconds, hours, days, weeks or months.
Climate - Climate describes what is the condition of weather over a long duration of time in that particular area. Climate varies according to the different regions. We describe the climate by giving the temperatures during different seasons and by stating how windly it usually is.
Difference between Weather and Climate :
1. Weather refers to the condition of the atmosphere over a short period of time, from minutes to to days while climate means the average weather of a place over a period of many year.
2. Weather can change within a minutes or hours whereas climate takes very long time to change.
3. Weather is said to be temporary in nature. However, climate is permanent in the nature.
4. The study related to weather is called "Meteorology" and the study about the climate is called "Climatology".
5. Weather may change due to one condition. But, weather includes all the conditions like temperature, humidity and clouds.
