There are two types of crops available i.e, Rabi crops and Kharif crops. They are grown according to the season. What are the differences between them ?
We need the crops as a food for our survival. The crops are mainly of the two types :
Kharif Crops :
1. Kharif crops are grown during rainy season i.e, from June to September.
2. Rice is one of the important Kharif crop of India
3. The crops grow in hot and wet conditions.
4. They are monsoon or Rainy season crops
5. Flowering requires shorter day length
6. These crops are dependent on the rainfall
Example: Maize, Cotton, Soyabean, ground nut, etc
Rabi Crops :
1. Rabi crops are grown during winter season i.e, from October to March.
2. The major Rabi crop in India is Wheat
3. The crops grow in cold and nearly dry conditions.
4. They are called as winter crops
5. Flowering requires longer day length
6. These crops are not dependent on the rainfall
Example: Mustard, gram, pea, linseed, etc.
