Generally, people get confused between diarrhea and dysentery. Are these two conditions same or different ?
The answer is yes, they are different. Diarrhea is viral while the dysentery may be the result of bacterial or protozoa infections. In diarrhea, loose or watery stools are passed from rectum more than 3 times a day. There si intestinal inflammation in colon, in which loose or watery stool is passed along with mucus or blood when you are suffering from dysentery.
Dysentery is a severe health issue than diarrhea. Diarrhea is more common in infants and children but dysentery is accompanied with vomiting, fever, stomachache, and cramps whereas, diarrhea is just passing of watery faeces.
