Both are linked with the problem of loose motion. They are interconnected with each other. I want to know the difference between both of these ?

Generally, people get confused between diarrhea and dysentery. Are these two conditions same or different ?

The answer is yes, they are different. Diarrhea is viral while the dysentery may be the result of bacterial or protozoa infections. In diarrhea, loose or watery stools are passed from rectum more than 3 times a day. There si intestinal inflammation in colon, in which loose or watery stool is passed along with mucus or blood when you are suffering from dysentery.

Dysentery is a severe health issue than diarrhea. Diarrhea is more common in infants and children but dysentery is accompanied with vomiting, fever, stomachache, and cramps whereas, diarrhea is just passing of watery faeces.

Treatment for Diarrhea and dysentery :

Diarrhea can be treated only by maintaining electrolyte balance of body by drinking lots of fluid and eating more food. The treatment of dysentery includes the anti-biotic course. In both the conditions, patients should take rest properly to recover from weakness.
